Outdoor Adventures: How KITA BÄRLIS Encourages Exploration and Play

At KITA BÄRLIS, we believe that outdoor play is essential for the healthy development of children. Engaging in outdoor activities not only promotes physical health but also fosters cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Here’s why outdoor play is so important and how we incorporate it into our daily routine.

The Importance of Outdoor Play

Research has shown that outdoor play offers numerous benefits for young children. It helps them develop gross motor skills, enhances their sensory experiences, and provides opportunities for social interaction and emotional regulation. Playing outside encourages children to be active, which is crucial for physical health, including building strong bones and muscles, improving cardiovascular health, and maintaining a healthy weight.

Outdoor play also stimulates intellectual development and creativity. Children naturally engage all their senses while playing outside, which helps them process sensory information better. Activities like building structures, exploring nature, and imaginative play contribute to cognitive development and problem-solving skills.

Moreover, outdoor environments provide a unique context for learning. Children can explore science concepts, learn about nature, and develop a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around them.

Our Approach at KITA BÄRLIS

At KITA BÄRLIS, we prioritize outdoor play through various structured and unstructured activities that make the most of our natural surroundings.

  1. Daily outdoor activities: We ensure that children spend a significant part of their day outside, engaging in free play and guided activities. This helps them develop a routine that includes regular physical activity and exposure to nature.
  2. Sports Day: We ensure that children spend a significant part of their day outside, engaging in free play and guided activities. This helps them develop a routine that includes regular physical activity and exposure to nature.
  3. World Explorer Day: And once a week is our traditional "World Explorer Day," where we spend the entire day out and about. Children go on field trips to parks, forests, and other natural settings. These excursions allow them to experience different environments, learn about nature, and develop their observational and inquiry skills.
  4. Forest and Nature Group: We have our own forest and nature group! A forest hut serves as our retreat during bad weather. On Mondays, we have "Farm and Zoo Day," and on Thursdays, "Adventure Park Day."

By incorporating these outdoor activities into our daily schedule, we provide children with ample opportunities to explore, learn, and grow in a natural setting. This holistic approach ensures that they benefit from the physical, cognitive, and emotional advantages of outdoor play.

At KITA BÄRLIS, we are committed to creating a nurturing environment where outdoor play is an integral part of our curriculum. We believe that by fostering a love for the outdoors, we can help children develop into well-rounded individuals who appreciate nature and enjoy an active lifestyle.
